CHOIR (Fun) DAY

I taught at Harrogate Ladies' College (HLC) for 30 years and my great love was the Chapel Choir of about 32 girls.
It sang in Chapel five days a week during term with Mattins and Evensong on Sundays.
Over the years these girls have married, had children and grandchildren, have careers in the law, medicine, education, engineering and so on, but … they remember their time as members of the Chapel Choir and trips to Cathedrals to sing, BBC services, foreign tours and national competitions. The weekend 25/26 April sees many "old girls" returning to meet friends, reminisce and to sing! An indication of their enthusiasm is obvious when I say some have travelled from the US, the South of France and Australia to be here.
This Choir Fun Day lasting one hour in Nidd Church allows them to sing in the church whose vicar once was the Revd Ronnie Kent at the same time as he was Chaplain at HLC. He now rests in a grave by the front door of this church "so I can welcome people coming to church". He'll delight in their singing today as he used to in the College Chapel.

On Saturday 25 April they are all involved at HLC and singing in the Chapel until 4pm. They then move across the road to St Wilfrid's Church Hall where they will rehearse informally 4-7pm. You, friends and families are all welcome to join them there for refreshments and to enjoy their banter while they rehearse old favourites.Those staying overnight in Harrogate will come to Nidd the next morning to give this informal, fun concert lasting one hour before they set off for home.
Do please join us. There are no tickets to buy, no reservations. Just come and enjoy their music, as they undoubtedly will.
